Economic Outlook 2024
This year again, on the 2nd of February 2024, the Danish-French Chamber of Commerce and the Benelux Business Club had the pleasure and honour of welcoming William De Vijlder, Group Chief Economist of BNP Paribas, for a conference about the Economic Outlook 2024. 70 participants joined us on this Friday morning for a light breakfast and valuable insights on the economic forecasts in this year to come.
The conference was held at Deloitte where climate & sustainability experts Anne Kathrine Wennergren Holm, Helena Broadbridge and Edward Sims shared insights on how they help clients boosting performance and increasing profits by integrating considerations about purpose, people and planet in core business processes. They also discussed the impacts of new sustainability regulation and digitization on future-proof business strategy.
After Deloitte’s interesting presentation, William de Vijlder went through the economic and financial scenarios of 2024 from his thorough analysis. His takeaway message to the audience was clear: Relief. After a long period of rising inflation and rocketing energy prices, inflation is decreasing, and rates are going down. Although 2024 will also mark a year of geopolitical uncertainty, especially with upcoming elections in the EU and the US, we were encouraged to remain optimistic about the economy in 2024. The night before the conference, 30 VIP members of the Danish-French Chamber of Commerce met to enjoy a multi-course dinner at the modern French restaurant A Terre in the center of Copenhagen. Here, the participants had the opportunity to catch up with good connections in their network and make new connections from a range of different sectors and nationalities.
