Invest in women: Accelerate progress conference

The Chamber of Commerce celebrated female entrepreneurship in a panel debate about the drivers, opportunities and challenges women face...

This year again, the Danish-French Chamber of Commerce organized an event to celebrate the International Women’s Day. In 2024, the official theme was “Invest in women: Accelerate progress” and that inspired us to hold a panel debate on female entrepreneurship: The drivers, opportunities and challenges that female business leaders face in their entrepreneurial journey.

Together with the board of our Women’s Committee and 360 Law Firm, we had the honour of welcoming four female profiles, who shared their experiences and ideas:

  • Gina Périer, founder and CEO of Lapee
  • Petra Kaukua · CEO & co-founder of Eat Grim
  • Cecilie Engvang Lund – Co-founder & COO at Tempty Foods
  • Kristine Holst Frisk – Sustainability Manager, Antler VC Nordics

It was an inspiring and very honest debate, where we learned that female entrepreneurs are still faced with prejudices when raising capital and finding partners. One panelist explained that she often had to bring an older male colleague to her investor meetings to be taken seriously. Another panelist told us that she still does not see any advantages of being in women when promoting her company. And finally, a panelist said she had decided to close her company to take control over the development of her career. Still, all panelists were driven by their projects and demonstrated impressive success stories as both businesswomen, inventors, and mentors.

The French Ambassador, Christophe Parisot, concluded the debate and applauded the panelists for their strong stories.

The panel debate was moderated by Mette Gade, partner of 360 Law Firm. With more than 25 years of experience in law and management, Mette herself has experienced what it means to be an ambitious woman in a male dominated environment. Mette has also written books on business law and taught courses at CPH Business.

After the debate, we enjoyed delicious and revolutionary meat-free snacks from TEMPTY foods and mingled over a glass of wine from our partner Les Grands Chais.

We hope to see you again next year.
