Newcomers' Day: more than 100 participants welcomed at the French Embassy

On Saturday 5th of September, 2026, we hosted this years' Newcomers' Day for any newly arrived French speaking people at the French Embassy.

We were very happy to welcome you to this Newcomers' Day, and we warmly thank you for taking part. More than 100 people joined us at the French Embassy, which says a great deal about how many French speakers are arriving in Denmark and looking to connect.

We hope the day will help you settle in more easily, speed up your integration into your new country and grow your network, and that you enjoyed your time with us.

Our warm thanks go to the teams at the Embassy for their welcome, to the Ambassador and the Consul for their introductions, and to all the associations for their presence and their presentations.

The organisations and associations you met:

Our partner of the day, Relocare!

Last but not least, you met our partner Relocare. Relocare supports expatriates and their families at every stage of their move to Denmark: finding housing, registration and immigration (CPR), taxation, opening a bank account, schools and daycare, as well as spouse support. A big thank you to their teams for their help in organising this day and to their invaluable support, which enabled us to set up this years' event. They are ready to welcome your requests, if you need assistance on your arrival here in Denmark.

Networking after the presentations

Once the presentations at the Embassy had come to an end, we all gathered to continue the conversation in a more informal setting. This is often where the most useful part of the day happens: putting a face to an association, finding someone who arrived a year ago and has already solved the problem you are facing, or simply exchanging contact details with people who have made the same move. Building a network takes time, and starting it in one afternoon rather than over several months makes a real difference when you are new to a country.

A boat tour of Copenhagen

The day continued with a boat tour, a relaxed way to keep the conversations going while discovering Copenhagen from the water. Seeing the city from a different angle is one of the nicest introductions we could think of for those who have just arrived, and it gave everyone the time and the space to talk properly.

Useful resources

On the Embassy website, you will also find a list of the many French associations in Denmark.
