L’Oréal Fund for Women empowers women in vulnerable situations

The three-year fund of 50 million euros is part of the L’Oréal Group’s ambition to contribute to address the great social and environmental challenges of our world through the sustainability program towards 2030 L’Oréal for the Future.

The purpose of the fund is to support the action of grassroots and local associations in helping women gain access to education, find work, and integrate into society, while fighting against violence, poverty, and supporting women refugees and women in situations of handicap. Globally, around 1 million women and girls have received support since the creation of the fund in 2020. To make the greatest positive impact, the Fund joined forces with 100 charities and on-the ground partners in 30 countries worldwide.

In Denmark, the L’Oréal Fund for Women supports two important organizations, HjerteRum and the ReDI School Copenhagen.

HjerteRum has established a ‘sister-house’ for vulnerable young girls and women, aged 13 to 23, where they can be part of a safe community outside their home during their spare time. The objective is to fight loneliness and isolation, increase their mental wellbeing and contribute to a more active and healthy life. The first HjerteRum ‘sister-house’ has been established in Copenhagen, and one more will come during 2022. Over time, the aim is to expand all over the country.

Kira Møller, the founder of HjerteRum, states: ‘We are very proud that the L’Oréal Fund for Women has chosen to support HjerteRum. This donation means the survival and continued growth of our organization over the coming years to the benefit of many young women, helping their empowerment. We are grateful that L’Oréal has chosen to support a new and innovative project.’

As Denmark is one of the most digital societies in the world, digital skills are crucial to be a part of the Danish society and labor market. The ReDI School of Digital Integration is a non-profit tech school for women with migrant- and refugee background, offering a free program, including IT and tech courses on several levels. The focus is to create digital empowerment by supporting women in getting access to digital skills and a social and professional network in Denmark. This work also contributes to more diversity and inclusion in the Danish labor market - and especially in the IT field.

Ida Jepsen, Head of the school informs:The ReDI School Copenhagen was established in 2019, and we are launching in Århus in early 2022. This 3-year donation from the L’Oréal Fund for Women helps us ensure financial stability to the benefit of many more women who become stronger and learn that they can accomplish so much more’.

We are proud that our sustainability strategy includes a strong social aspect. By partnering with local charities, we ensure that the actions are very relevant in each country. I am glad that we can contribute to make a difference for the girls and women supported by HjerteRum and the ReDI School Copenhagen’, says Tomas Hruska, Managing Director L’Oréal Nordics.
